Multiple-rotor Solution of Whirl Flutter Using MSC.NASTRAN
Original language description
This paper deals with whirl flutter analysis of turboprop aircraft structures. It gives the theoretical background of the whirl flutter phenomenon and aircraft certification-related issues. After that, standard and optimization-based analytical approaches are described. The focus is on a multiple-rotor solution, typically of a twin-engine aircraft using a full-span model. The necessary adjustments of a stick computational model and modification of the optimization-based solution are described. The methodology is demonstrated on the reference model of a twin engine turboprop commuter aircraft. The evaluated results include the available choices of both propeller rotation directions, i.e. identical (CW-CW) and inverse (CW-CCW).
