Blowing as a means of drag reduction of wing – strut junction
Original language description
High aspect ratio is well-known mean to diminish induced drag of a wing. The problems with strength and stiffness of a high aspect ratio wing can be suppressed by a strut. A junction between the wing and the strut is a source of interference drag that can be potentially decreased by flow control performed by blowing. Continuous and pulse blowing in the wing – strut junction was studied both experimentally and numerically. The results indicate the influence of the mass flow, frequency and injected momentum on the efficiency of the blowing as a mean of the drag reduction.
