    Impacted area description effect on strength of laminate determined by calculation

  • Original language description

    The paper analyses the influence of case idealization of the impacted area on the result of the laminate test specimen strength, which was acquired from calculation. Work is focused on simulation of composite specimen impact test conducted in accordance with ASTM D7136 standard. The initial stiffness and strength were compared with properties of damaged samples and influence of damaged area model description was studied. The calculations performed with ABAQUS software were part of a broader set of analyses, that preceded the demonstrated experiments. The numerical results show a high correlation with the experimental data mainly in terms of stiffness and strength.
