Surface ozone at the GAW and EMEP stations in the Czech Republic
Original language description
Surface ozone became one of the most serious environmental problems in Central Europe in the last decade. The task of this study is to evaluate the results of surface ozone measurements at the Czech GAW and EMEP stations (Košetice and Svratouch), which represent the regional scale of the Czech Republic, in the period 1992-1999. The results show, that the annual mean surface ozone concentration in rural areas of the Czech Republic stabilised in the nineties at a relatively high level and has not increased further. Throughout the period under consideration, the mean surface ozone concentration at Czech regional stations was considerably higher than at the suburban station at Libuš in Prague. The number of episodes in which the ambient pollution limit wasexceeded dropped rapidly in the second half of the nineties. Situations in which the surface ozone concentrations increase above the ambient pollution limit usually occur in longer periods with typical summer weather (extreme temperature
