Small Air Quality Sensors: In Vivo Testing of Electrochemical Cairpol Sensors in Comparison to Reference Measurement

  • Original language description

The use of small air quality sensors has been very popular in recent years not only in research but also in the public sector. Here are the test results of the Cairclip electrochemical sensor set (Cairpol, FR) for SO2, NO2, O3 / NO2 and CO in summer (2015) and winter (2017/2018). Combined O3 / NO2 sensors (Cairclip) achieved the best results both in comparison between pairs and between sensors and reference monitors (RM). However, the measurement quality of these sensors was far better in summer (R2 = 0.88) than in the winter (R2 = 0.31) compared to the O3 and NO2 concentrations measured by RM. Based on the known influence of temperature and humidity on sensor data quality, we have further applied some mathematical corrections based on the relationship between sensor measurement quality and dew point deficit (Td deficiency).
