Finding of the source of particles size N30–200nmwithin BC variability at two background stations in the industrial region in the Czech Republic

  • Original language description

Global climate is affected by atmospheric aerosol interactions with the solar radiation. Since aerosol can scatter and/or absorb solar radiation, their presence in the atmosphere contributes to cooling or warming the climatic system. Black carbon (BC) is an aerosol species that contributes to atmospheric warming due to strong light absorption (Birmili et al. 2016, Pöschl 2005). One of the main sources of ultrafine particles and black carbon is the road traffic (Pohl et. al 2017). This study is focused on the relation between BC variability and selected aerosol particle size 30–200 nm (N30–200nm), which is related to the fresh emissions from traffic (Sun et al. 2019) at two stations, situated in industrial and mining region in the north part of the Czech Republic. Although this region is influenced by number of different sources (according to emission inventory from 2016 - Public electricity and heat production; Stationary combustion in chemical industry; Venting and flaring; Stationary combustion in manufacturing Chemicals and Non-metallic minerals; Traffic), we explored if N30–200nm is mainly gen erated by traffic.
