First results of the persistent mobile organic compounds (PMOCs) monitoring in surface water and groundwater in the Czech Republic
Original language description
PMOCs due to their environmental properties may pose serious threat to water resources used for drinking water supply, since they can easily pass through sorption barriers and thus through the water treatment systems. An occurrence of 9 from 20 monitored substances in surface and groundwater was confirmed by this study. Positive findings were confirmed for 10 substances in surface water and for 9 substances in groundwater. These substances thus expanded the already quite extensive list of xenobiotics that we normally find in waters. They may pose potential threat to the water resources used to supply the population with drinking water and ultimately for human health.
