The Jizerské hory Mts. area represents a region with heavy air pollution load in the past, with the large area forest decline and with considerable degradation of forest ecosystems. The immission load decreased considerably in the last decade, but this decrease was not followed by the improvement of forest stand state. The specialists are aware of big number of forestry, ecological and environmental risks. The knowledge is still scattered and can not be used fully. This was one of the reasons for the organization of the first bigger international conference with the topic of the Jizerské hory Mts.

Czech description
Konference věnovaná obnově lesních ekosystémů Jizerských hor. V minulosti byla tato oblast těžce poškozená imisemi, s čímž souvisel úbytek lesních porostů a degradace lesních ekosystémů. V posledních letech se míra znečištění zřetelně snížila, avšak ke zlepšení zdravotního stavu lesa nedošlo. Odborníci si jsou vědomi ekologických a environmentálních rizik a vítají výměnu informací, které by jinak nezískali. Tento fakt byl jedním z důvodů pro uspořádání první větší mezinárodní konference věnované Jizerským horám.
