The objectives of the presented study were to detect quantity and quality of litter-fall in young European beech stands in two different localities (mountains and lower altitudes), which are typical for forests naturally dominated by broadleaves. The annual amount of litter-fall in the young beech stands investigated varied in Stand A (mountain location) at the age of 18 ? 25 years from 2 200 to 5 300 kg.ha-1 and is Stand B (lower location) at the age of 29 ? 35 years from 3100 to 5800 kg.ha-1. Per hectare the nutrient content in the litter fall was approximately 40 kg of Nitrogen, 6 kg of Phosphorus, 14 kg of Potassium, 60 kg of Calcium and 7 kg of Magnesium per year. The annual amount of litter-fall was significantly influenced by climatological factors ? late frost and a warmer spring and early summer contributed to a lower amount of annual leaf biomass of the young beech stands investigated here.

Kvantita a kvalita opadu v mladých porostech buku lesního (Fagus silvatica L.) na lokalitách s přirozenou dominancí listnáčů

Czech description

Cílem předkládané studie bylo zjistit kvantitu a kvalitu opadu v mladých porostech buku lesního na dvou rozdílných lokalitách (v horách a v nižších polohách), které jsou typické pro lesy s přirozenou dominancí listnáčů. Ve sledovaných mladých bukových porostech kolísalo roční množství opadu v porostu A (horská lokalita) ve věku 18 až 25 let v rozmezí 2 200 až 5 300 kg.ha-1 a v porostu B (nižší polohy) ve věku 29 až 35 let v rozmezí 3 100 až 5 800 kg.ha-1. Na hektar bylo v ročním opadu obsaženo přibližně40 kg dusíku, 6 kg fosforu, 14 kg draslíku, 60 kg vápníku a 7 kg hořčíku. Množství ročního opadu bylo průkazně ovlivněno klimatickými faktory ? v letech s pozdním mrazem, teplejším jarem a počátkem léta bylo zaznamenáno menší množství roční listové biomasy ve sledovaných mladých bukových porostech.
