Heavy metal accumulation by willow clones in short-time hydroponic
Original language description
The differences in Pb and Cd accumulation capabilities of four willow clones, Salix miyabeana, S. viminalis, S. x blanda, and S. elbursensis derived from willow species planted out in 1997 in coal-ash-setting localities in Ore Mountains, CR, were determined. Plantlets micropropagated by organogenesis were grown in sterile hydroponics media supplemented by 0.5 mM Cd(NO3)2.4H2O or by 0.5 mM Pb(NO3)2. Generally, substantially higher concentrations of both metals were identified in roots than in abovegroundparts of all willow clones, even if clonal differences in their accumulation were detected.
