Dynamics of dangerous substances and study of resuspendation of polluted sediments
Original language description
The dynamics of dangerous pollutants in streams originates of the movement of suspended load. The total amount of it is related to washing-up processes in the watershed, the sludge outlets and re-suspended sediments. Three new empirical models are presented for estimation of suspended-load transport. Moreover, using regressions between concentration of suspended load and concentration of pollutants in it, the transport of different pollutants may be computed. The re-suspension of cohesive sediments maybe well described by two-dimensional mathematical model with imputed criterion for the velocity of re-suspension of sediments dependent on the local mean velocity of the stream. This way of modeling enables the estimation of the amount of re-suspended sediments during any flood event even in a very complicated river bed geometry.
