Selected biochemical markers in fish (Leuciscus cephalus) were used as a marker of contamination of the River Elbe by specific pollutants - PCBs and PAHs. Lowest EROD activity was found in the control site, but there was no singificant correlation between CYP 450 and EROD activity and the PCB and PAH concentration (in water and sediments)in the contaminated longitudinal profile of the river
