Real time flood forecasting: comparison of two linear models

  • Original language description

The aim of the article is to test a real-time forecast ability of rainfall-runoff model QP, which assumes linear relationship between the rainfall and the resulting flow. Runoff predictions for particular time step are calculated on the basis of antecedent precipitation and antecedent discharges measured t time steps earlier. Hourly time resolution was used. Every t-hour prediction was counted on grounds of combinations of differently long time series of antecedent discharges (parameter q, q = 1 - 30) and antecedent precipitation (parameter p, p = 1 - 30); in other words for every t-hour prediction were tested 900 models. The forecast ability of particular models was evaluated by coefficient of determination R2.
