The article provides information on a beginning research project which aims to (1) evaluate recruitment, accumulation and mobility of large woody debris in natural streams during flood events, (2) estimate the vulnerability of wood to flushing downstreamduring a flood and (3) suggest an action mitigating the human intervention to streams in protected areas and at the same time better prevent the risk of wood accumulation at bridges, weirs and other buildings downstream. The research is focused on unregulated meandering streams with at least partly forested floodplain.
