Concentration of radionuclides in hydrosphere affected by Temelín nuclear power plant in Czech Republic
Original language description
We presented results of a long-term field study of the nuclear power plant Temelín (Temelín NPP) impact on the Vltava River. The study was divided into 2 stages: before and after the operation of NPP. The main goal of the investigation before the operation starting (1989 ? 2000) was to determine the background levels from the nuclear weapons tests and the Chernobyl accident for different environmental matrices. The risk of the recipient radioactive contamination due to the tritium water release is alsodiscussed. The Temelín NPP impact on the concentrations of any activation and fission products, excluding tritium, in the hydrosphere, were not detected during the operation period of 2001 ? 2006. The annual average tritium concentrations in the Vltava River correspond with the previously calculated predictions for the conditions of the average and minimal guaranteed flow rates. The maximum concentration of tritium 30 Bq at the profile Vltava River Podolí was observed after dry period in
