Dynamics and possibility of prediction of chlorophyll-a concentration in a selected Oder river profile
Original language description
A selected profile on the Oder river (profile Oder-Polanka, Czech Republic) was monitored during the years 2006-2008. The data were analyzed and relationships between the chlorophyll-a concentration and other parameters were found. The crucial importancefalls to the discharge, its dynamics and to the water temperature. The effect of other parameters on the chlorophyll-a concentration in the selected profile is not significant. The approach can be used for the prediction of chlorophyll-a contents. The importance of nutrients is very small regarding the chlorophyll-a dynamics, for the nutrients do not limit the growth of algae in the selected profile. The limitation is set rather by the water travel time that determines the time available for the growthof phytoplankton biomass. The nutrients determine the trophic level of the ecosystem.
