Devices in automatic monitoring stations located along rivers sometimes provide continuous monitoring of water quality. Data of the water quality are usually continuously recorded. This monitoring record sometimes can serve to identify source of the pollution. The method of possible uses of the tracer study for this purpose is described in the paper. It is shown on possible using of River Shenandoah tracer study for analysis of hypothetical case of instantaneous spill of conservative pollution.
