    Microbial contamination and testing methods of hygienization of small wastewater treatment plant outflows for wastewater re-use

    The aim of this paper is to present results of experimental and semi-operated hygienization of wastewater outflows with the mail goal what is wastewater re-use, especially for irrigation. Selected treatment plants included septics, plants using aerobic and anaerobic processes, vertical flow biofilters and extensive wastewater treatment plants (with horizontal and vertical subsurface flow reed-beds and stabilization ponds). In the period 2012-2017 were sampled inflows and outflows of the WWTPs with regard to microbial contamination indicators (thermotolerant coliform bacteria, E. coli, Enterococci). For the hygienization step of wastewater treatment were selected these methods: filtration (water flowed through vertical filters with specific filtration materials included zeolites, sand and artificial fillings), selected UV radiation equipment, chemical processes (oxidation) and membrane technology. Achieved results showed potential of tested methods for wastewater final purification.
