Original language description
The sewage sludge is produced during waste water treatment. Stabilized sludge can be used as a fertilizer because of its rich composition in nutrients and minerals. However a microbial risk of the sewage sludge for health has to be taken into consideration. The aim of this study was to monitor microbial contaminations of the sewage sludge from two kinds of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The first one was classical mechanical-biological WWTP and the second one was constructed wetlands WWTP. The sludge has different properties from these two kinds of WWTP. Then we have investigated the modification of the sludge with selected bacterial strains (preparations). The goal was improved carbon and nitrogen (C: N) ratios and reduced the amount of the hygienically important bacteria. The results of this study are very important for further use of the modified sludge.
