Longitudinal profile of conductivity in Oder river during low-flow condition
Original language description
If we assume that a high concentration of inorganic salts was a prerequisite or conditio sine qua non for the massive water bloom of Prymnesium parvum (Haptophyceae), which most likely became the main vector of mass fish-kill in the Oder during the July and August of 2022, then the first logical step in assessing the risk of a recurrence of such ecological disaster is to map the electrical conductivity (EC) within the Oder river. Given the hydrological circumstances of fish-kill event, it is highly appropriate to carry out such measurement also at a very low discharge of so-called hydrological drought.
