The aim of the paper is presenting experience with the contribution of NGOs and educational institutions in supporting the implementation of artificial wetlands and the restoration of the stream network, their maintenance and education of the public and municipalities workers. The paper is based on good practice case studies from the Central Europe region. Local and regional NGOs play important rule in presentation and sharing research results and knowledge how can wetlands and stream restorations can help to reduce impact of climate change within a catchment or a region, especially in cooperation with national research institutions. They are able, and have capacities and experience usually, how to transform research results into a set of information for municipalities workers, state administration units, decision making managers etc. It is possible to present case studies with successful results. For the future sustainable management, operation and maintenance of the built or restored wetlands and other parts of the river network within a catchment, there is an important rule of educational institutions, including schools, presenting information in appropriate form. It can include field observations, surveys, training, education leaflets, work with families atc. If the children are involved in the maintenance and survey of built localities, it can help share information to the whole local community.
