Role of cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) in nutrigenetics and pharmacogenetics of cholesterol lowering
Original language description
Consistent results have been published about the A-204C promoter variant in cholesterol 7 α hydroxylase (CYP7A1) gene. CYP7A1 is a rate-limiting enzyme in the bile acid synthesis and plays an important role in keeping the cholesterol homeostasis. CYP7A1 CC homozygotes have the highest decrease of total cholesterol in response to the dietary changes in different types of dietary intervention studies. In contrast one study described that LDL-cholesterol lowering effect of statins was slightly higherin A-204A homozygotes.

Cholesterol 7alfa-hydroxyláza (CYP7A1) a její role v nutrigenetice a farmakogenetice snižování cholesterolu
Czech description
O A-204C variantě v promoteru genu pro cholesterol 7 α hydroxylázu (CYP7A1) byly publikovány konzistentní výsledky. CYP7A1 je klíčovým enzymem syntézy žlučových kyselin a hraje důležitou roli v udržování rovnováhy cholesterolu v organismu. CYP7A1 CChomozygoti mají nejlepší odpověď na dietně indukovanou změnu cholesterolu. Nicméně, naopak, cholesterol snižující efekt statinů je poněkud výraznější u A-204A homozygotů.
