Response by Netuka et al regarding the article 'Evaluation of low-intensity anticoagulation with a fully magnetically levitated centrifugal-flow circulatory pump-the MAGENTUM 1 study'
Original language description
Our investigation seeks to move the field forward toward the position that, when technology advances result in a reduction of thrombotic complications, it makes intuitive sense to begin to decrease the hazards that emanate from excessive anti-coagulation. The pivotal 2-year analysis of the MOMENTUM 3 trial demonstrated that the HeartMate 3 (HM3) left ventricular assist device is associated with absence of pump exchange due to pump thrombosis and a halving of the rate of stroke events. Our ongoing follow-up of cases within the MAGENTUM 1 population suggest preserved stability despite maintenance of low INR in the long-term phase, even beyond 1 year of support.
