Intracardiac Echocardiography to Guide Non-fluoroscopic Electrophysiology Procedures
Original language description
Advantages of intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) in electrophysiology procedures include the ease of use, no need for general anesthesia or deep sedation and the possibility of the adjustment of the imaging view according to locate mapping and ablation catheters. ICE may be used with or without electroanatomical mapping system for non-fluoroscopical conventional ablation procedures, especially for guidance of catheter ablation of cavotricuspid isthmus in atrial flutter. ICE allows safe and reproducible transseptal puncture. ICE is an important tool for guidance in complex ablation procedures, often together with electroanatomical mapping system. Assesment of the extent and location myocardial substrate for ventricular arrhythmias is another domain of ICE.
