Device-Based Therapies for Resistant Hypertension: Implications for the Perioperative Clinician
Original language description
HYPERTENSION IS one of the most prevalent cardiovas- cular risk factors worldwide. Despite several therapeutic options, a high proportion of hypertensive patients do not reach optimal blood pressure control. For these individuals with resistant hypertension, careful management is needed due to their high risk of adverse cardiovascular, cerebral, and renal complications. This category of patients can pose very chal- lenging perioperative hemodynamic management issues. In this review, the authors discuss the general approach to resis- tant hypertension and the new device-based treatment options available.
