An Aristocrat against the Tide of Time: Ilka Lobkowicz

  • Original language description

Ilka Lobkowicz, née Volková, was one of the first teachers of rhythmic gymnastics in the Czech Lands, and also the illegitimate daughter of Count Leopold II. Lažanský. Her marriage to Prince Ferdinand Josef Lobkowicz made her a member of one of the most important aristocratic families in Czechoslovakia. The study deals with the fate of this exceptional woman whose life was significantly influenced by both dictatorships, especially the communist one after 1948.
