Interoperability in memory institutions in Czechia
Original language description
For decades, the memory institutions in Czechia have been responsible for developing policies for the acquisition, documentation, conservation, research and communication of its own cultural heritage content. While the mission of individual memory institutions has been slightly different – the libraries have been responsible for information access to printed heritage (documents), galleries for collecting, preserving and displaying art collections, museums for research and preservation of artifacts, and archives for preservation of information as evidence of the creator's activities – the main goal of these institutions has been the same: to collect information resources/artifacts, to develop sophisticated systems for describing and accessing them and their digital surrogates as well, and to prepare universal and global access to them for general public.
