Original language description
The exhibition, whose name refers to a statement by Václav Jan Tomášek, one of the most important Czech composers of the first half of the 19th century, referring to music publishers, was dedicated to Prague printed music books from the 19th century. It took visitors through a century that is the most interesting and dynamic period in terms of the almost six hundred-year history of printed music. She presented the changes in Prague's music publishing practice in this century and its role in the music revival life of Prague at that time. She introduced local publishers, printers, engravers and lithographers. On display were musical prints of compositions by well-known and unknown authors, created using all the notation techniques used at the time and often with unique artistic decoration.
