Cobitis ohridana and Barbatula zetensis in the River Morača Basin, Montenegro: distribution, habitat, population structure and conservation needs
Original language description
We report on the distribution, habitat, population structure and conservation needs of Cobitis ohridana and Barbatula zetensis in the basin of the River Morača in Montenegro. Both species are distributed in lower stretches of the main river and in some of its inflows in lowland habitats. Cobitis ohridana preferred shallow water with abundant filamentous algae, Barbatula zetensis deeper water with stones in substratum. Both species are abundant in suitable habitats, but have small distribution area in the Morača River basin.
