Original language description
An analysis of mitochondrial DNA of the lizard Mesalina brevirostris was conducted to estimate phylogenetic relationship among Syria morphotypes of the given species. The results revealed existence of an undescribed cryptic species of the genus Mesalinain western Syria.

Byla provedena analýza mitochondriální DNA paještěrky Mesalina brevirostris s cílem zhodnotit fylogenetické vztahy mezi syrskými monotypy daného druhu. Výsledky odhalily existenci nepopsaného kryptického druhu rodu Mesalina v západní Sýrii.
