Original language description
Philanthaxoides gallicus gen. nov., sp. nov. from the Lowermost Eocene french amber is described, illustrated and compared with the extant and related fossil taxa. This new taxon strongly resembles extant species of the genus Philanthaxia Deyrolle, 1864(Thomassetini Bellamy, 1987) except for one but crucial morphological character: the frontoclypeus is not widened laterally as in all genera of Thomassetini but it is rather narrow with the subparallel lateral margins as in Anthaxiini Gory & Laporte de Castelnau, 1839.

Czech description
Philanthaxoides gallicus gen. nov., sp. nov. z jantaru francouzského staršího eocénu je popsán, ilustrován a srovnán se současnými a příbuznými fosilními taxony. Nově popsaný taxon silně připomíná současné druhy rodu Philanthaxia Deyrolle, 1864 (Thomassetini Bellamy, 1987) kromě jednoho, avšak zásadního, morfologického znaku: frontoklypeus není laterálně rozšířený jako u všech rodů Thomassetini ale je dosti úzký s téměř rovnoběžnými laterálními okraji jako je tomu u Anthaxiini Gory & Laporte de Castelnau, 1839.
