Original language description
Orientalism and Egyptomania are undoubted phenomena constituting a large chapter in the history of interwar cinematography of United States, France or Germany. It is therefore interesting to see, which role these phenomena played in film history of a lesser (in scale if not technical quality) cinematography - that of Czechoslovakia. The Orient was present in documentary film as well as in movies and these media were - as did books or periodicals - shaping an image and a vision of the Orient.
