The Exotic Salon of the Master of the House: The History of the Václav Stejskal Collection
Original language description
Václav Stejskal (1851-1934) is one of the most important donors to the Chinese collection of the Náprstek museum in the early 20th century. In 1886-1888 he served on board the corvette Aurora during her journey to Asia. In his collection of seven hundreditems from East and Southeast Asia, more than one hundred were collected in China. They represented historical souvenirs from the Chinese port-cities of the above-mentioned period. Some of them are accompanied by related sources, such as entries in Stejskal´s travel diary, photos and letters.
