Early medieval silver hoards consisting of coins, their fragments and jewelry fragments represent an important and irreplaceable primary source in process of understanding political and economic history of the countries where they had been discovered orthe territories relevant from the trading and strategic point of view, as well as the areas connected with origin of the coins or jewels (West Europe, Islamic East). The Kelč hoard (central Moravia) plays a leading role among the mixed hoards of the 10thand 11th century in the territory of the Czech Lands. Based on contemporary reports, selected publications of the material and the following recent reconstruction, the hoard used to consist of 275 complete European silver coins and 607 of their fragments, 1,222 fragments of Islamic silver coins and one complete silver dirham, plus 307 fragments of silver jewels.
