Case study of an open source application for 3D acquisition of archaeological structures at the archaeological site Wad Ben Naga
Original language description
The paper describes an application of the structure from motion (SFM) method for low-cost 3D capture of architecture bound building and finding structures and the following procedures in the framework of archaeological excavations in Wad Ben Naga (Sudan). This method allows the archaeologists to create accurate 3D models of the archaeological features using only a SLR camera. The experience from Wad Ben Naga is described in this case study in the context of the special Sudanese environmental parametersand should also contribute to the spread of Structure From Motion method on other excavations in this area.
