Cytotype coexistence in the field cannot be explained by inter-cytotype hybridization alone: linking experiments and computer simulations in the sexual species Pilosella echioides (Asteraceae)

  • Original language description

The study combines results of experimental crossing among cytotypes of Pilosella echioides and in silico simulation of dynamics of virtually panmictic population. Based on comparison of multi-parametric model with the field observation of cytotype structure on Havranické vřesoviště heathland we postulate the hypothesis of relatively high capacity for clonal growth for all cytotypes and especially for triploids.
