Original language description
The ancient glass collection of the National Museum contains more than 200 intact vessels of unknow provenance. The earliest vessels in the collection belong to the classical period: it is core-formed glass, represented only in a few pieces. Mosaic glass is also represented only in a few fragments as well as glass made by sagging into or over a former mold. The core of the collection is made up of blown glass of the Roman Imperial Period. Unguentaria are the most numerous group, but in the collection there are vessels of various shapes and types from colorless and colored glass. Besides vessels which were common in the both, western and eastern part of Roman Empire, it was possible, in some cases, according to the specific shapes determinate closer place of provenance. Attention was also paid to the chemical composition of glass and in some cases, there is also a note about production techniques.
