Bohemian Garnet jewellery: 1,500 Years of Czech Treasures
Original language description
The article summarizes an over 2000 years long history of using of the Bohemian garnet (i. e. pyrope) in a jewellery, goldsmithwork and silversmithwork as ecclesiastical dishes and tableware or in glass. Examples of the 15th up to the early 20th century, coming from collections of the National Museum in Prague introduce the variety of using this typical precious stone of a Czech origin in a historical context and his development from an art design of high artistic ambitions up to the rustic and folk art.
