Philae at Wad Ben Naga
Original language description
Recent research by the Archaeological Expedition to Wad Ben Naga of the National Museum, the Czech Republic, contributed to the discussion on the cultural, religious, and architectural influence of the religious complex at Philae on the Meroitic heartland. The evidence for the possible intellectual exchange noted at the site of Wad Ben Naga, at the distant southern fringe of the Meroitic kingdom, took the form of adopted monumental architectural forms and elements, as well as religious concepts and texts. Finds from two structures at the site erected in the first century CE, namely the Isis Temple and the Palace of Amanishakhete, are discussed.
