New records of the recently described Pomatoschistus nanus Engin & Seyhan, 2017 (Teleostei: Gobiidae)

Original language description

New data on the recently described goby Pomatoschistus nanus Engin &amp; Seyhan, 2017 from the Mediterranean are presented. The species is identified through genetics, morphology and coloration. Data from Malta and Cyprus significantly extend the known distribution area of the species. The Malta data also extends the upper bathymetric limit as well as the maximum known size for the species, currently considered the smallest in the Mediterranean. The morphological variability of P. nanus is also discussed.
