Original language description
The article addresses jewellery decorated with coloured stone inlays, in particular garnets, from the migration period in Bohemia. These artefacts are viewed as important evidence of the presence of elites and their involvement in supraregional contacts. The text presents new finds from the region of central Bohemia and simultaneously analyses previously known artefacts held in museum collections. Using a typological-chronological analysis and a study of the origin of the garnet, the article explores the issues of the production, distribution, and social function of these artefacts. Attention is also paid to inlay techniques, and their development in the broader Danube region. The article also focuses on decorative techniques such as gilding, niello and wire composition of metal components. The study shows that jewellery with garnet inlays was not only an aesthetic accessory, but also a carrier of symbolic meaning associated with identity, status, and regional ties. The results contribute to a deeper understanding of the social structure and cultural dynamics in central europe in the 5th and 6th c. the article also emphasises the importance of combining archaeological, archaeometric, andhistorical approaches in the study of artefacts from the migration period.
