Collecting Qi Baishi?s Painting in Czech Republic
Original language description
The paper elaborates upon the conditions leading to the formation of the large collection of Qi Baishi?s painting in the National Gallery in Prague. It uses new results of archival and art-historical research to trace the conditions under which some of the most outstanding Qi Baishi?s works were acquired for the Czechoslovak collections and subsequently became part of the collections of the National Gallery in Prague. The author introduces the activities of the collector-artist Vojtech Chytil in the interwar period and the many figures active in the 1950s and 1960s, who brought Qi Baishi?s paintings to Czechoslovakia.
