Plants in Japanese Drama. The Fragile Beauty of Nō Theatre and Graphic Art
Original language description
The author’s text concentrates on examples of the flower language in Nō theatre that can be found in prints in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague. As there is a literary-dramatic overlap, the graphic material playing a major part in the analysis is accompanied by equally important translations of texts inscribed in cartouches or on the edges of prints. Each graphic sheet also represents a certain flower symbol linked with the theme of a theatrical play.
