Original language description
This catalogue presents the sixteenth- to nineteenth-century French paintings found in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague. Most of the artworks are from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The catalogue includes works by French painters regardless of where they may later have been active.The actual catalogue of French works contains fifty-nine entries. An additional twenty-four entries are included as addenda, and here you will find basic information about paintings that have until now been considered to be of French provenance but, because of the research that has just been completed, we now believe do not fit into the context of art of the French school. Uncovering more detailed information about these artworks will be the subject of future research. The publication is divided into a text section and the actual catalogue section, which includes the aforementioned addenda. Martina Jandlová Sošková compiled and created the individual Catalogue and Addenda entries. The included “Laboratory notes” and “Technical notes” for the individual paintings are credited to their individual authors.
