Original language description
Essay deals with the origin, purpose, date and historical connotation of graphic design albums by Ladislav Sutnar which were acquired in late 70s by private collector Merill C. Berman and which till now have not been published and exhibited. Albums represent portfolio of works dated by years 1925–1939 when Sutnar was one of the leading European designers of the new typography in the field of book, advertising, company visual style and exhibition design. Albums comprehend rare artifacts such as complete visual style of the progressive New Theater or National Theater and many of unknown magazine designs. Essay of Iva Knobloch is part of the representative book published by the Museum of Modern Art in New York at the occasion of the exhibition of this unique private collection of world avant-guard.
