Clinical quiz. 12-year-old Romany girl was born to unrelated parents after an uncomplicated pregnancy by a normal vaginal delivery. Psychomotor development was without any abnormalities. At the age of 3 years she was admitted to the hospital for bronchopneumonia; at the age of 7 years, she underwent an adenoidectomy. At the age of 11 years, she was treated for a urinary tract infection. Her father was healthy; however, her great aunt, on her father’s side, had died of chronic renal insufficiency. Her mother was suffering from asthma and her brother had been diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type I. There was no history of renal disease in other family members.
