The role of chemokines and chemokine receptors in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis is reviewed. The individual chemokines and receptors found on the protein and message levels in the joints are described. Experimental models of arthritis have been used to show the importance of chemotactic molecules and their use in targeting as possible therapeutic targets.
