Prevalence and genotype distribution of TT virus in the Czech republic.
Original language description
The prevalence of TTV was screened by PCR in healthy donors, patients with non A-E hepatitis, and a group of subjects with increased parenteral and sexual risk of transmission. The significantly higher TTV prevalence in hemophiliacs suggests that the parenteral route is a major route of transmission. Since TTV was detected in a significant number of vaginal smears, sexual transmission of TTV can not be excluded. Our results do not indicate TTV as an etiological factor in posttransfusion hepatitis of unknown etiology.
