Differential gene expression of bone marrow CD34+ cells in early and advanced myelodysplastic syndrome
Original language description
Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a hematopoietic stem cell disorder characterized by ineffective hematopoiesis and dysplasia in one or more blood cell lines. Our study identified several differentially expressed genes using microarrays between early andadvanced MDS patients. Expression levels of ADAM8, BIRC5 and MPL were validated in additional set of 29 patients using qRT-PCR. Their specific expression pattern was confirmed: higher expression of ADAM8 and MPL and lower expression of BIRC5 in advancedMDS compared to early MDS patients.
