Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a genetically heterogeneous, malignant clonal disease and the most common acute leukemia in adults especially over age of 65 years. The purpose of this review is to describe some of the recent major advances that occurred due to the impact of genomics, mainly through the new genomic technologies, in the diagnostic classification, risk stratification, and treatment of AML.
